Day 10 of the 24 Days of Christmas Crafting!
The goal for these 24 days is to give you ideas for hand-crafted Christmas decorations for your tree and home. Come back each day to try the next craft. 24 Days of Christmas Crafting!
You’ll be amazed at how fast today’s project is! The Christmas holiday is often accompanied by certain scents. One of those is cinnamon. I like to buy the cinnamon-scented potpourris to bring those traditional scents into the house for the holiday.
Every package of potpourri I buy always has the “crumbs” of potpourri at the bottom. In my case with today’s project, it is broken chips of cinnamon sticks. They are not pretty enough to put into my decorative jars but I do not want to throw away those amazing scents.
I decided to make a small and quick project to use those potpourri crumbs.
Materials and Supplies
- 1 Jar (I used a peanut butter jar)
- Paper tube
- Scissors & Tape
- Potpourri Crumbs
- Mini ornaments
- Ribbon
I used a toilet paper tube for this but you could cut one down from a paper towel tube or just create a tube from a cereal box or card stock.
Assembly
- Make the tube so that it has a diameter that fits into the jar with enough room for a layer of mini ornaments all around it.
- Put the tube into the jar and surround the tube with the mini ornaments. If any of the ornaments drop into the tube, wait until you are finished filling the jar then, while holding the ornaments in place, dump out the ones that fell into the tube.
- Fill the tube with the potpourri crumbs.
- Tie a ribbon on the jar.
Here is a quick video of the steps:
This is a project you can do with kids, too. They may like putting the ornaments into the jar while you cover the top of the tube.
