Day 12 of the 24 Days of Christmas Crafting!
The goal for these 24 days is to give you ideas for hand-crafted Christmas decorations for your tree and home. Come back each day to try the next craft. 24 Days of Christmas Crafting!

What’s Christmas without a little mistletoe? I decided I wanted to try to make my own that I could cut on my Cricut. I looked online at pictures of real mistletoe then sat down with Adobe Illustrator and started to draw Mistletoe leaves. The result is this project that I get to share with you!
Materials and Supplies

- 2 sheets of green 12″ x 12″ card stock
- Pattern files from my Resource Library
- White “berries”
- Glue
- Optional: Needle & button thread
- Optional: Embellishments (Ribbon, bell, etc.)
I found card stock that has different colors on each side. My leaf strips will be medium green on one side and light green on the other side.
For the white berries of the mistletoe, I found these adorable and shiny Beaded Christmas Berries. They’ll make a perfect addition to my mistletoe!

Cutting the Leaves
There are two patterns for this design. One is 11″ x 11″ and the other is 9″ x 9″. In my Resource Library, the .ZIP file contains two .SVG files, one for each size. If you plan to cut these by hand, you will have to piece together the pattern pieces that are in the PDF.
Cut one of the 11″ x 11″ and one of the 9″ x 9″ design.

Curling the Leaves
Before assembling the mistletoe, you will want to curl the leaves. If you have a tool with a smooth round end, you can use that to curl the leaves. For this project, it was faster for me to use my fingernail to scratch along the surface of the paper to encourage it to curl. Curl the leaves toward the outside of the finished project.

Assembly
Turn both pieces curl side down. Glue the berries to the back of the 11″ x 11″ set of leaves as shown in the picture. You should position them wires of the berries to be in open places between leaves. You will later bend those wires to bring the berries toward the front.

After the glue has set, place the 9″ x 9″ set of leaves, curl side down, onto the 11″ x 11″ set of leaves so that they are at a 45 degree angle from the larger set with the centers aligned. You want the smaller set to fill the gaps between the larger set.
You can either glue these two together or sew them together with a needle and button thread. I used needle and thread and included a bell to hang from the underside of the mistletoe.

To form the ball of mistletoe, pull up the four ends of the 9″ x 9″ set of leaves. To attach them to each other, you can use glue, tape, or needle and thread. Again, I used needle and thread for this stage.
Now pull up the four ends of the 11″ x 11″ set of leaves and attach them to the previous set and to each other.

Except for cord for hanging and maybe a bow or similar embellishment, your mistletoe is is ready for hanging.
Let the kissing begin!
