Day 24 of the 24 Days of Christmas Crafting!
Here we are at the last day of The 24 Days of Christmas Crafting! What a fun 24 days this has been. I hope you found a craft or two that you wanted to make. Since this is the last day for Christmas crafts, I decided to make envelopes for gift cards. Many of us have someone on our list who, for some reason or another, is getting a gift card as their present. These envelopes are a cute way to wrap those gift cards.
I am giving you four different designs for the gift card envelopes. All of these can be cut by hand or by a craft machine. The .SVG files and PDF patterns are in my Resource Library.
A Note About Scoring
Score lines: All of the envelope designs have score lines built into the design. If your craft machine does not score paper, remove those lines before cutting.
Cutting: Cut the papers so the design of the paper is against the mat so that the back side of the paper gets scored.
The Gift Card Envelope Designs
The links above will jump down to the specific project or you can read through all of them.
Simple Folded Envelope
The Simple Folded Envelope is a fast and easy envelope. This is well suited to papers that are printed on both sides.
Materials and Supplies
- 1 sheet of decorative paper or card stock
- Design from my Resource Library
- Glue
Assembly
After cutting and scoring, place the envelope with the score lines facing up.
Fold in the top and bottom sections.
Fold in the left and right sections.
The rounded ends of the left and right sections have a cut in them so you can link the two sides together.
That is all you need to do for this simple envelope to be complete. Just remember to add the gift card. 🙂
Poinsettia Envelope
The look of the Poinsettia plant is so amazing. The red and green leaves circling the tiny flowers inside are a beautiful creation. I was so surprised to see Poinsettias growing in my grandparent’s flower garden in Florida. They were huge bushes compared to the potted houseplants I have bought for so many years.
I decided I wanted to make another Poinsettia project in these 24 days so I made one into an envelope.
Materials and Supplies
- 1 sheet of red glitter card stock
- 1 sheet of green glitter card stock
- Design from my Resource Library
- Glue
Assembly
After cutting and scoring, place the green glitter paper envelop with the glitter side facing your work surface. Fold along all four score lines.
Hold the two Poinsettia flower sections so that the straight cuts on the red leaves are to the left and right. Slightly rotate so that the center red leaves interlock to each other.
Fold in the left and right sides of the green glitter paper portion of this envelope design.
Lay the interlocked red leaves on the the green glitter paper so that the straight cut red leaves align with the left and right edges of the folded green glitter envelope.
Lift up the red leaves and apply some glue.
After the glue is set, you can properly fold the envelope. Lay the gift card on the open envelope and fold in the top and bottom flaps.
Fold in the left and right sides, interlocking the red leaves.
The Poinsettia Gift Card Envelope is now complete.
Tool Box Envelope
When I found the Diamond Plate Cricut paper, I bought it knowing that someday I would have a use for it. As I was designing envelopes for this post, I remembered this paper and decided to make it into a tool box.
Materials and Supplies
- 1 sheet of decorative paper or card stock (I used the diamond plate deluxe paper by Cricut)
- Design from my Resource Library
- Glue
- Optional: Silver Sharpie®
Assembly
After cutting and scoring, fold along all the score lines. Fold toward the inside of the toolbox.
Glue the tabs to the front and back sides of the toolbox.
An optional step is to color the handle of the toolbox. I used a silver Sharpie®
Just drop a gift card into the open toolbox then tuck the tab into the cut slit in the front of the toolbox.
The toolbox gift card envelope is now complete and ready to give away as a present.
Suit and Tie Envelope
I have saved the most complicated of these four for last. It is not difficult but it uses three different sheets of paper and the assembly is in a few steps. But, it is totally adorable!
Materials and Supplies
- 1 sheet of “pinstripe” decorative paper or card stock (this is for the suit portion of the design)
- 1 sheet of a different design decorative paper or card stock (this is for the necktie)
- 1 sheet of white card stock (for the shirt)
- Design from my Resource Library
- Glue
Assembly
The cut pieces should look like the following picture.
Fold along all the score lines, folding to the back side of the papers.
There are collar points on the white shirt piece. You can add a dab of glue to these to hold them down.
Lay the pieces out in this order:
- Main suit piece
- Lapel piece
- Shirt Piece
- Tie Piece
Take the lapel piece and insert it into the main suit piece.
You can optionally add a dab of glue behind the lapels to hold them in place against the main suit piece.
Insert the shirt piece behind the lapel piece.
Lay a gift card on the tie piece, tucked into the bottom fold and insert it behind the shirt piece.
As you lower the gift card and tie piece into the suit, fold the tie down into the suit.
You now have a delightful well-dress gift card to give to someone special. To open, untuck the tie and pull up on the tie. Since the gift card is nestled into the fold at the bottom of this piece, it will pull out as the recipient pulls out the tie piece.
